Ba ba ba Barcelona!

After boarding the train from Zorgonzola...ahem Zaragoza, we were on our way to Barcelona.

Sorry about the poor quality of this photo, Tom was trying to demonstrate how incredibly fast this train went - 299 kilometres per hour. Insanity!

When we arrived in Barcelona we hopped on a tram to take us closer to our hotel. Unfortunately Tom got attacked by his poor, on-its-last-legs suitcase. Practically every time we've moved from one city to another, Tom gets another few cuts and bruises from this suitcase.

After collapsing for the evening, we awoke refreshed the next day and began a strategic attack on the city of Barcelona. First, some water. The way any travels should begin according to Tom.

It was a fairly short walk from our hotel to the Sagrada Familia, an incredibly impressive cathedral built (at least partially) by famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi.

We ooohed and aaahed at the amazing exterior, but were not very impressed by the line to enter. So instead, we popped across the road to purchase our tickets for the hop-on-hop-off bus.

And so began a morning of frantic photo-snapping as we sped by all sorts of interesting buildings. Welcome to Barcelona!

They have such cute little trams!

Their bus shelters must be very comfortable.

They have these gorgeous tree-lined avenues in the middle of the streets, where locals sit and read the paper and watch the world go by.

We passed by the main train station, which we could hardly see through the sea of taxis!

In case it's not obvious, Barcelona is an incredibly diverse city.

Not to mention HUGE!

I just managed to snap this photo as we wizzed past the big sporting stadium at high speed.

Towards the water it's so very beachy.

So beachy, in fact, we couldn't resist finding a spot to eat where we could see the water. More on that shortly...
