Finally some Flamenco!

After our morning admiring the Sagrada Familia, we set out to see if we could find the other Gaudi masterpieces in the vicinity.

Not before Tom had a pregnant woman back stretch, though.

His influence was certainly everywhere!

And this was one of his first accomplishments in Barcelona.

As we had exited the Sagrada Familia earlier, someone had handed us a flyer for a discount off a Flamenco show, making it considerably cheaper than the other options we had found. So we went on an expedition to find the place and book tickets for that evening.

We got a bit sidetracked along the way as we passed a strip of shops. Whoops!

Tom preferred the interesting water fountains, of course.

Once we had found the dancing place and got ourselves organised, we made our way back to La Rambla to search for some lovely tapas for lunch.

We thought this gold bike was pretty funny.

We found this great place for a tapas lunch.

Just look at it. Sigh.

Needless to say, it was fantastic.

Once we could bring ourselves to leave, we popped down to the nearest metro station to make our way towards some markets we'd spotted the previous day from the bus.

We ran into the Harley Davidson convention on the way, as you do.

Tom likes this one.

I personally think this one has more style. Horned skull on the front? Hell yes.

Our navigational abilities failed us somewhere along the way, and we realised that we were heading in the wrong direction for the markets after a while. So we gave up on that quest.

We did spot a little dollar store (or perhaps they call them 'euro stores' in Europe, and decided to pop in. See, as our holiday progressed, we were beginning to worry that Tom's suitcase would exceed the per-bag weight limit to get on the plane home, so we knew we had to get another bag so that we could divide our belongings across three bags instead of two, to increase our chances of getting everything home.

Guess what we walked out with?

Yes, 16 euros later, and we were the proud owners of yet another suitcase! By the way, it looks alarmingly similar to the one we saw in a bus shelter the previous day. Hmm...

We made our way back to La Rumbla to meet up with Dave and Cassie for a cheap and speedy dinner.

And then, since we hadn't packed in enough yet, we decided to trundle ourselves (and our new suitcase) onto the metro, and up the nearest hill, to see if we could see much of a sunset over the city.

As you can see, we saw one.

We made our way back down to earth after a short rest, since we had to make it to our Flamenco show in time!

And we sat and waited for the show to begin (and ignored the really rude waiters as much as possible).

It was great! And considering that it cost us only 20 euro each, not a bad deal at all.

They had the works. Not only Flamenco fan dancers, but a sultry acoustic guitar player.

The show ended on a fairly weird note, when this guy got up and gave a very... passionate...performance like the girls had before him. It was just a little bit disturbing as his sweat-drenched hair flew all over the place and he gave his sexy eyes to Tom.

Nevertheless, it was good fun, and we ended the evening by very fortunately saving ourselves a long walk and hopping on a bus back to the hotel.
