Still Off with the Fairies

We moved on from our first fairytale castle to see its more famous bigger sister.

Not before trying on a few more hats at the nearby souvenir shop!

And eating one of the most delicious lunches we'd had in a while.

And admiring the gorgeous local buildings.

And the hard-working horses that pull people up the hill in carriages.

We opted to spare the horses and use our own legs. We had to stop for some extra fuel on the way up - cream cheese doughnuts. Yes, we're definitely getting fat.

And you could see a glimpse of the second fairytale castle behind Tom there. Neuschwanstein castle.

This is the view from the area directly in front of the castle.

No photos allowed inside again, but we could take photos from the windows.

Here's Tom posing next to Ludwig in a nearby restaurant.

Where we then decided to try our first apple strudel.

These little furry friends made a good case for donating the strudel to them. Our greed won out, though.

And after a very long day enjoying the play houses of the rich and famous, it was time to return to Munich.

Here you can just see Schloss Neuschwanstein perched on its mountain in the distance, as we drove away.

And then it was time to admire the beautiful countryside again.
