A Moment in Milan

We boarded a train from Cinque Terre to Milan (just intended as a quick stopover, like Pisa) that took three hours. During that time, the weather deteriorated until it almost sounded like hail was hitting the roof of the train.

When we arrived in Milan, what do you know, hail was hitting the station roof, and had actually broken a pane of glass and was pouring inside!

We took a few glances outside, and hastily changed our plan to spend an hour or two seeing a little bit of Milan, and immediately went in search of our next train out.

Milan has a beautiful train station.

Clearly it’s not built for rain though. The floors were covered in water.

And here, there was water pouring down the centre of this staircase.

So that was our Milan! We wanted to see it, we tried to see it, but it didn’t want to see us!
So we left. Off to our last proper Italian destination, Lake Maggiore.
