Overwrought

Surprise, surprise, we still can't live in our house.

We've made excellent progress with plumbing a kitchen sink and will very soon have a working shower and toilet (when the plumber returns this afternoon to finalise everything).

So that's excellent. Another thing we can tick off the list.

Guess what we're still waiting for? Power. Yes that's right, the power company came to reconnect the power this week, but then decided that they couldn't because the meter box wasn't compliant with current Australian standards, or some such rubbish. So, a meeting with the electrician ensued (with the promise that to fix it will likely cost us up to $1,500), and now we go back on the end of the queue for the power company to come back and try again.

My emotion at this point?

But we're dealing with it. It just postpones the date we can move in AGAIN.

So the next hurdle? To get our power retailer to fill out the necessary paperwork to book everything in for the actual power company to come back and try again.

Think red tape, rude telephone operators (customer service operators my @&$), and chinese whispers. I started to look like this.

More phone calls, more dead ends, more red tape later, and I was this.

Attractive.

Tom had to agree to step in just to get his sobbing, hiccuping, never-going-to-live-in-her-house, beaten-by-the-system wife off the phone.

Not sure how he went. Not sure that I even care anymore.

My plan of attack is to do the following:
1) Completely avoid all electricity-related responsibility in future
2) Devote my energy towards more worthwhile pursuits - namely the consumption of chocolate.

3) Perhaps deciding on a paint colour for the master bedroom ceiling.
