Got it Covered

Wonder of wonders, we've actually finished painting the main living areas. That's now not only the master bedroom, Daniel's bedroom and the lounge, but the kitchen and dining room as well! All covered in paint!

Daniel and I got to work sanding the kitchen ceiling over the weekend. We are really over sanding by now, let me tell you!

I'm not just being cool, I was getting little bits of dirt and dust in my eyes and couldn't find the attractive safety glasses (seen here), so I decided to don the sunnies.

A little snack break...

And then we were back into it.

Allie thought it was reeeeeeeeally boring.

Then we washed, undercoated, painted, and painted the kitchen ceiling again.

Here it is after the undercoat.

And the finished product.

Meanwhile, Daniel finished up the last coat on the dining room.

Here we are looking through the finished dining room into the finished kitchen.

Allie celebrated the accomplishment by stretching.

And then the boys started preparing the timber beams/posts that need to be installed to help hold up the bit of wall left between the dining room and ceiling.

Once we were confident of its size and position, they started sanding again.

And painting...

So, at long last, we have officially got all of the main living areas covered in paint! Yay! Well, except for the ceilings in the lounge and dining room that need a lot of work , a fact that we're going to conveniently ignore for the time being because it's a LOT of work. Here's a glimpse.

Because of my ingenious decision to focus the camera towards the non-kitchen side of the wall (and brightened up the photo a bit so you can actually see the ceiling) , you can't actually see the damaged bits. I've circled a few for you, but the worst one is the one the arrow is pointing to, where you can almost see the roof cavity through a giant crack running across the plaster.

We're probably going to need to rip both the lounge and dining room ceilings out and replace them bit by bit (hopefully keeping the lovely ceiling roses), so that's not an undertaking we're ready for right now.

So... hooray for finishing the painting!!!! Now for the bathroom!
