pour améliorer, meaning 'to improve', is a humble record of our renovation, home improvement and landscaping projects, with our travel adventures thrown in.

There's No Place Like Home

After our mad dash to make it to the airport on time (why does that remind me of this song from My Fair Lady?), we then had the very interesting task of making sure our multitude of suitcases was within the airline's weight limits.

With Tom's miracle-working trolley inside, his giant broken suitcase (his second broken suitcase of the trip - see the first here) weighed so much that we could hardly keep anything inside it, except our patriotic beach ball to fill up some space.

Fortunately, with some very ingenious packing (and lots of carry-on weight), we got everything packed and ready, and passed the weigh-in at check-in with flying colours. Whew!

And then our very very long journey home began.

Here we are stopped over in Dubai airport, where Tom switched his jeans for something cooler, resulting in the not-so-cool look of ankle boots and long socks with shorts.

Next stopover, Singapore!

Here's the best image I could come up with to prove we were actually in Changi airport.

EK432, that's our baby! Only running 40 minutes late.

And then, 25 hours later (not including any lost time-difference hours), we were back on Australian soil for the first time in 3 months. And we couldn't believe it!!!

Look at that shamefully large pile of luggage. Do as we say and not as we do, and don't try to make it all the way around Europe on trains with bags that are insanely large in either size or quantity, ok?

How does one even sum up such an epic trip? The best I've been able to come up with was "It was huge!" Very eloquent of me, I know.

Seventeen countries later, countless churches and museums, and three months traveling, and we were finally home. And it felt GOOD!

Want to bet on how long it took us to get straight back into renovating once we were home?
