Plastered... Again

The ceilings and walls in our downstairs area have been mucked around a lot, no surprises there. See here for the full story, and here for the aftermath.

So, this is what the lounge room looked like when all of the ceiling plasterboard was ripped out.

And after we'd almost exhausted all internal painting options trying to keep ourselves occupied while waiting for the plasterers to return... they finally did!

And within hours, we had a proper lounge room with a ceiling again!

The wardrobes got the same treatment, with a new ceiling and extra bit of wall...

And most impressively, the second bedroom went from this mess...

To this!

It still looked like a crazy mass of bulkheads, with the big channel running down the centre, and little ones running all around the edge, but it was a giant improvement.

The garage and little laundry area weren't forgotten either...

Although the other garage was going to have to wait a bit longer for some attention.

And then the plasterers returned to put the finishing touches on all of their joins and seams, and the real magic happened.

Voila! Lounge room ceiling!

And a closer look... you can see the cornice that we'd painted in the kitchen area, the new little end cap to it, and then the lounge room ceiling beyond.

And closer still... here's that little end cap and then the step up to the lounge room ceiling.

This is the little area of the lounge ceiling between the front wall and that first bulkhead. A bit strange, but nothing to be done about that!

I think this was about where I lost Allie's interest.

The seam in the wardrobes got all smoothed and prettied...

Not much change in the corridor, since it thankfully got to stay with its existing height ceiling...

Although the little niche in the corner had to be raised up higher, so it too looked a lot better with its skim coat of plaster.

And then... the second bedroom!

I find it amazing how it went from this ridiculous mess of junk...

To this much more palatable mess.

I actually think it promises to look quite fancy with a lick of paint...

What do you think? Anyone as relieved as I am to be back where we were weeks ago when we were first plastered?
