Piles of Tiles

I've been rabbiting on about how great it will be to finally have an ensuite for... about two years now. Well,it's about time for... this!

Back when we bought the tiles for our other bathroom (all of two years ago), we bought just enough to also do the ensuite in the same ones. So, we've got black pinstripe ceramic tile on one wall, and off-white porcelain tile on the floor and walls laid in a brick pattern.

And in the ensuing couple of years, we've lugged all of those spare tiles around the house as they've kept getting in the way. Here's a shot of the ensuite from the lounge, back before we closed off that wall. The bottom few layers of all of that junk consists of boxes of tiles.

So! Back to the ensuite! Here's where we last left it, when the new doorway was in, and the waterproofing done.

And then one day I set the tiler to work... and a few hours later...

I got pretty excited and took a whole heap of photos.

Even I, as someone who has never tiled in my life, could appreciate the impressive work on the shower floor. See those angled mitred tiles leading towards the floor drain? Yeah, impressive.

Unfortunately we had under-ordered our mosaic feature tile by a few sheets, so there wasn't enough to fill our little niche all the way from the floor to its top.

I tried to order a few more, but apparently it's not available anymore. Such a shame. It's such a nice tile! Here it is in the other bathroom. So pretty.

So! Back to the ensuite again! Here's my lovely black pinstripe wall, nearly finished.

And the little corner between the doorway and the stained glass window. Soon to be known as the toilet corner, unfortunately for it.

I must say, I'm quite pleasantly surprised by how large the room actually feels. It's only about 2m x 1.5m, but the glossy tile reflects a lot of light, and the room feels pleasantly roomy!

Unfortunately I wasn't clever enough to actually take photos of the finished tiling, but here's a sneak peek of what comes next!

Who else is excited/relieved that this room will finally be used for something other than storage! Just me? Come on, humour me!
