First step, I'm afraid, is cutting down trees. We haven't had this dilemma before, as we were blessed with a completely barren block last time (a lovely blank canvas), but this time around we have a giant mango tree, a more-than-hundred-year-old Murraya (Mock Orange), a dead ugly kind of tree overhanging the front footpath, and another tree that's trying to climb in both our bedroom windows. If the possum that resides in it (and serenades us in the middle of the night) doesn't get in first!

The possum tree is no longer in the present, though. Over the weekend, we got out there (in the rain I might add) and attacked it with vehemence. In our defence, its roots had got into the neighbours' sewerage system, so they desperately wanted it gone. The possum had to be persuaded to leave the last remaining branch, and has now taken up residence in the dead tree near the footpath.
